Patrick Baldwin is a 19-year veteran music educator from Linesville, Pennsylvania, the town known as “Where the Ducks Walk on the Fish.” He taught multiple grade and age levels during his tenure in the PENNCREST School District, in Crawford County, Pennsylvania. He spent his first 15 years as the 4th – 12th grade instrumental music director for the Saegertown Elementary and Jr./Sr. High Schools as well as serving occasionally as a teacher for elementary general music, musical theater arts, music composition, and as drama club advisor. He built a regionally known and respected instrumental music program that produced multiple Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) All-State musicians as well as the 2014 Lakeshore Marching Band Association Class A championship marching band.
In 2016, as a part of staff reduction, Patrick was asked to teach K-6th grade general music at Maplewood Elementary School where he currently teaches. He accepted the challenge of teaching a new age level with open arms and led the district music educators in the development of a new elementary general music curriculum implemented during the 2017-2018 school year. Additionally, he started a 5th and 6th grade chess club with the hope of mentoring students not actively participating in the music program. He is also a staff member for the Maplewood and Conneaut Area Senior High School Marching Bands.
In 2016, Patrick was hired as Field Drill Designer and Instructor for the Grove City College Wolverine Marching Band under the direction of Dr. Joseph Pisano. His responsibilities as staff member include the writing, design, and implementation of the field drill for the Wolverine Marching Band. This has been a great honor to him as a 2001 graduate of Grove City College.
In 2017, Patrick formed his own marching band drill writing and educational services company, Ten-Hut Productions LLC. His company offers educational and design services to marching band directors including drill writing (squad and drum corps styles), adjudication services, clinics, seminars, instructional services, and an online marching arts education blog. He currently writes for eight high school marching bands and one collegiate marching band.
Patrick currently holds a BM in Music Education with saxophone and vocal concentrations from Grove City College as well as a MS in Mathematics Learning and Teaching from Drexel University. He currently serves PMEA District 2 as Secretary and the PMEA SPEC Council as Assistant Chair and District 2 Representative. He has also spent extensive time developing and programming tabulation programs for PMEA District 2, Region II, and most recently, the PMEA All-State Festival.
Patrick has been happily married to the love of his life, Deborah, since December 2010. He plays the role of “dad” to three fun loving rescue dogs (Zenna, Matey, and Quill) and two friendly, but demanding rescue cats (Frodo and Chewy). He and Deborah are avid board game collectors with a collection of over 290 card games, board games, and board game expansions. He enjoys a strong quad latte with great conversation to go with it – and the occasional chocolate biscotti.
